Prospective universal dMMR/MSI testing in young Japanese patients, prevalence and profile of Lynch-associated endometrial cancers

Summary

This prospective study evaluates the prevalence and clinicopathologic profile of MMR-deficient (dMMR) endometrial cancers in young Japanese patients, for whom universal Lynch screening data are still limited. A notable dMMR frequency is identified, corresponding to Lynch syndrome diagnosed for the first time at endometrial cancer presentation. Specific features (age, grade, stage) of these cases guide selection criteria adapted to the Japanese population.

Analysis

Universal Lynch testing for endometrial cancers is recommended by ESMO and ACOG, but its implementation remains variable in Asian countries. This Japanese prospective study provides essential local prevalence data to argue for universalizing MMR screening in this population context.
